Arizona Child Custody Laws

The Arizona child custody laws are created by the legislature as set forth in the Arizona Revised Statutes. The child custody statutes pertaining to child custody in Arizona are found at sections 25-401 to 25-416, sections 25-801 to 25-818 pertaining to paternity cases, and 25-1001 to 25-1067 pertaining to the laws applicable to interstate child custody issues.

The Arizona child custody laws contained in sections 25-401 to 25-416 apply to such things as legal decision making rights, parenting time rights, and provisions to include in parenting plans in Arizona. These sections also apply to to issues of substance abuse, physical abuse, and other relevant issues affecting children.

The Arizona child custody laws found in sections 25-801 to 25-818 apply to such things as establishing paternity, voluntary acknowledgments of paternity, the paternity registry, and presumptions of paternity.

The Arizona child custody laws found in sections 25-1001 to 25-1067 apply to such things as the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act. That act addresses establishment, enforcement, and modification of child custody orders between different state.
