Expungement Project serves Oregonians, week after week
The Expungement Project, supported by the National Lawyers Guild-Portland Chapter aims to repair some of the damage done by the drug war and over-policing, especially in BIPOC communities.
The Project provides free criminal record expungement assistance every Friday on a walk-in basis through the CLEAR Clinic, hosted at Portland Community College, and it also hosts partner clinics in the Portland metro area.
This is a great way for students, attorney volunteers, and other legal workers to get hands-on experience with people whose lives have been upended by contact with the criminal legal system. The Project helps to take people out of that system, one at a time.
If you would like to volunteer, the Project will train you to do records expungement at the clinic, located on the Cascade campus of PCC. If you are interested in doing this work, please contact Emilie Junge, at ejunge@gmail.com.
