Dear ,

The National Lawyers Guild Foundation is pleased to announce that we have awarded new grants of up to $7,500 each to ten NLG chapters and committees! These grants are made possible through the generosity of people like you.

With your support, the Guild Grants program helps strengthen the ability of NLG chapters and committees to provide critical legal support to liberatory movements. Each of our grantees, listed below, are working hard to tackle injustice!

2025 Guild Grant Recipients
  • Detroit & Michigan Chapter of the NLG for their Rapid Response Immigration Support Project to facilitate Know Your Rights workshops and provide legal advice and services to those needing immediate assistance in response to the national escalation of immigration enforcement

  • NLG Animal Liberation Committee to obtain government records on animal experimentation, expose surveillance of activists, and pursue filings to defend animals and the people who advocate for them

  • NLG Cascadia Chapter for a regional Legal Observer training to grow the ranks during this time of increasing criminalization of dissent and protest

  • NLG Chicago to train and develop new mass defense lawyers to meet movement needs during this historical moment of heightened protest, disruption, and activism

  • NLG Houston Chapter to build mass defense capacity by expanding their Legal Observer program, creating a referral network, and providing legal education

  • NLG International Committee to coordinate campaigns, educational materials, and events on using international law to counter US imperialism

  • NLG Military Law Task Force to help members of the military oppose discriminatory practices by developing a guide and CLE on the new Department of Defense regulations on Equal Employment Opportunity

  • NLG Portland Chapter to provide personal protective equipment for their Legal Observers to more safely monitor police activity as the use of military and armed law enforcement at protests increases

  • NLG Massachusetts Chapter to meet community needs by expanding their Know Your Rights program

  • Northwest Washington Chapter of the NLG to create a Support Roles Bail Fund to protect legal observers, medics, and protest safety volunteers

Thank you for supporting the NLG Foundation and making these grants possible!

In solidarity,
