About Us

The Cascadia chapter of the National Lawyers Guild trains and organizes legal observers for areas of Oregon outside of Portland.

The chapter is coordinated by attorneys from the Eugene-based Civil Liberties Defense Center. If you are seeking more general information about rights-based legal dissent and/or representation, please visit www.cldc.org.

The National Lawyers Guild was founded in 1937 as an association of progressive lawyers and jurists who believed they had a major role to play in the reconstruction of legal values to emphasize human rights over property rights. The Guild is the oldest and most extensive network of public interest and human rights activists working within the legal system.

For Portland-related issues (for example, legal observer requests or trainings, or attorney referrals), please contact the Portland chapter of the NLG.

For any other National Lawyers Guild questions or issues, please contact the national office.
