Students across the country are building encampments, demanding that their universities divest from Israel and calling for an end to the genocide against Palestinians. The NLG is working around the clock, helping mobilize members like yourself, in order to provide vital legal support to students who are arrested and/or facing administrative discipline.

During this time of great need, we are organizing a members-only meeting to share information and knowledge with each other. Guild members will discuss experiences working on student disciplinary hearings, and what others can expect. We will also hear from members who have witnessed state violence at the Gaza solidarity encampments so that we may learn what to expect and prepare for it and other ways supporters of the students can help.

The Anti-Militarism Working Group is a project of the International Committee and the Military Law Task Force. It was started to implement the 2023 convention Resolution against Perpetual War and to prepare for the likelihood of a larger future war. It supports the IC’s strong solidarity work and the MLTF’s long history of advising and representing GIs resisting US imperialism and oppressive military policies.

The purpose of the group is to bring together Guild members in educational and practice-focused ways to oppose US imperialism and neo-colonialism, challenge the huge network of US bases around the world, support resisters and conscientious objectors, expose the myths that prop up the war economy and oppose the grossly oversized role the US military has in destroying the earth’s climate and contributing to environmental harms.

The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (“ADC”) and the Council on American-Islamic Relations – New Jersey (“CAIR-NJ”) write to make a complaint against Rutgers University (“Rutgers” or “the university”) concerning anti-Palestinian discrimination that Rutgers students have been experiencing from and on its campuses over the course of this academic year. Through the Muslim Law Students Association (“MLSA”) and the student chapter of the National Lawyers Guild (“NLG”) of Rutgers University Law School - Newark (“Rutgers Law” or “the law
school”), we have gained insight into systemic discrimination at Rutgers.
