Fund the movement. Remember the NLG on #GivingTuesday!

Dear Friends,

This holiday season, don’t fund capitalism, fund the groups working to dismantle it. Celebrate ‪#‎GivingTuesday‬ with a contribution to the NLG!

Since I joined our National Office staff as the Executive Director last January, I have been inspired by the commitment of our staff, members, committees, board, and donors to the mission of the NLG. Because of your support, for the first time in many years, the National Office is fully staffed. Celebrate #GivingTuesday by donating to the Guild to help keep the movement going strong into 2016!

With more than 700 attendees from around the country (and the world), this year’s Law for the People Convention in Oakland, CA was a huge success. Members held groundbreaking panels and workshops and we were honored by an inspiring keynote speech by Alicia Garza, a co-founder of #BlackLivesMatter.

Our dozens of chapters and committees have been working year-round to further the movement for justice. Just to name a few, the International Committee has shown tremendous initiative and leadership over the past year, joining in multiple human rights struggles worldwide. The Guild’s Mass Defense Program has been extremely active, providing ongoing legal support for political unrest in cities like Minneapolis, Chicago, Baltimore, Cleveland, Oakland, St. Louis, and New York.

I hope you help us sustain our commitment to our mission by making a year-end gift to the NLG today. The Guild has secured a matching grant from the CS Fund for our Mass Defense Program, which can double the impact of your gift if you choose. We have raised over half of the matching funds, including a pledge of at least $6,000 from the hip-hop group Run the Jewels. But, we still need much more in order to maximize the matching grant, so please consider earmarking your end-of-year donation to the Mass Defense Program! We are grateful for your financial investment as we endeavor to provide crucial and progressive legal support to vital movements for social change.

Thank you for your support, and Happy Holidays!

Executive Director
