This panel invites leaders in the food justice and farmworker rights movements to explore the interconnections of human rights, environmental justice, and animal rights. Specifically, these leaders will discuss the importance of advocating for human labor rights as animal advocates, how speciesist logic affects workers in the animal agriculture sector, and ways we can hold companies accountable when they engage in unfair labor practices.

Presenters:

Suzanne Adely is the Co-Director of the Food Chain Workers Alliance and President of the National Lawyers Guild.

Amanda Hitt is the Director and Founder of the Food Integrity Campaign which uses law, policy, and strategic communications to empower food system truth-tellers in order to create a safe, equitable, and sustainable future of food.

Akisha Townsend is an attorney, scholar, and community activist who has worked in the field of animal law and advocacy since 2009 in a variety of capacities at various national and international organizations. She currently serves as Chief of Policy, Environmental Justice Division for Companions and Animals for Reform and Equity (CARE).
