About Us

LAWYERS FIGHTING TODAY,

FOR A BETTER TOMORROW.

The National Lawyers Guild is an organization dedicated to addressing the need for structural change in our political, economic, and judicial system. We consider the law an instrument for the protection of Mother Earth and her inhabitants, rather than an apparatus for their oppression. Our mission is to unite lawyers, law students, legal workers, and jailhouse lawyers to function as an effective force in advocating for human rights over property rights. The National Lawyers Guild Central Florida Chapter was established in 2020 and includes members that live or work in Orange County, Seminole County, and Osceola County. Anyone who resides outside of these areas may still become non-voting members.

The National Lawyers Guild was establish in 1937 and is the oldest and most extensive network of public interest and human rights activists working within the legal system. We have an extensive history of fighting for unions, against facists, and for human rights everywhere.

Guild members often form committees around specific issues and collaborate at local, regional, and national levels to reform our justice system. Current committees include:

  • Anti-Racism Committee
  • Disability Justice Committee
  • Drug Policy Committee
  • Environmental Justice Committee
  • Housing & Homelessness Committee
  • International Committee
  • Labor and Employment Committee
  • Mass Defense Committee
  • Mass Incarceration Committee
  • Military Law Task Force
  • Queer Caucus
  • The United People of Color Caucus (TUPOCC)

To become a member of the above committees for the National Lawyer’s Guild, please click here to become a dues paying member and opt-in to the committees of your choice.

As a newly founded Chapter, we are seeking members who would be interested in helping found similar committees to those listed above for the Central Florida Region. If you are interested, please email centralfl@nlg.org
