On December 11, 2018, members of the Central American Exodus sent this petition to President Trump, DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, and CPB officials urging they respect the rights of asylum seekers at the Mexico-US border:
“If this situation is left unattended, the danger and vulnerability that members of this exodus are suffering in Tijuana will only increase while their full right to seek asylum in the USA in accordance with domestic and international law continues to be ignored […]
[W]e request an immediate increase in the number of asylum seekers processed to 300 people per day at the San Ysidro ports of entry, keeping in mind that this number also fails to comply with law, which guarantees the immediate processing of any asylum seeker.”

El 11 de diciembre del 2018, los miembros del Éxodo Centroamericano les enviaron esta petición a Presidente Trump, Secretaria del Departamento de Seguridad Nacional Kirstjen Nielsen, y oficiales del Comisionado de la Oficina de Aduanas y Protección Fronteriza de los EU pidiendo respeto al derecho a solicitar asilo.
“Su no observación, agudizaría la condición de vulnerabilidad y riesgo que sufren miembros de este éxodo al no garantizar su pleno ejercicio a solicitar asilo de acuerdo a las leyes internacionales y nacionales […]
[S]olicitamos un aumento inmediato del número de solicitates de asilo procesados como mínomo a 300 personas al día en las Garitas de San Ysidro, tomando en cuenta que este número tampoco compliría con la ley que garantize el procesamiento inmediato de cualquier solicitante de asilo.”
