The National Lawyers Guild is a proud member of the International Association of Democratic Lawyers (IADL), an international organization of jurists' associations that have made the violation of human rights and threats to international peace and security legal issues under international law, since 1946. The President of IADL is longtime Guild member and NLG International Committee (IC) Co-Chair, Jeanne Mirer.
The National Lawyers Guild affirms its strongest support for hunger striking prisoners in California, Guantánamo Bay, Colombia, and Palestine, and urges members and supporters to participate in and defend actions of solidarity protesting solitary confinement, arbitrary detention, and other rights violations. The Guild’s Prisoner Hunger Strike Solidarity Committee calls on people to take action to support the prisoners.
America should seize upon the election of a new Iranian president and immediately lift all sanctions.
The “Leahy Law” prohibits the United States from sending aid to security forces that commit “gross violations of human rights.” Israel is not exempt from this rule.

Dear Acting President Maduro and the people of Venezuela,
The National Lawyers Guild expresses our deep condolences for the loss of President Chavez. We were heartened to witness his impressive election victory five months ago.
From college campuses to community centers across the country, students and other activists have faced orchestrated and aggressive attacks when speaking in support of Palestinian rights. Many have had their viewpoints shut down and have even been called anti-Semitic. Once vibrant forums for free speech are becoming restrictive places where individuals daring to speak out against injustice are unabashedly bullied.
The National Lawyers Guild, in collaboration with the Center for Constitutional Rights and others, is providing legal support for Palestine solidarity activism.
A just-released National Lawyers Guild (NLG) report finds that the 2012 presidential election which reseated Venezuela President Hugo Chávez was conducted fairly and accountably.
