The National Lawyers Guild strongly condemns Israel's illegal expulsion of Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) member Khalida Jarrar from Ramallah to Jericho, two cities within the occupied West Bank. NLG demands that Israel's West Bank military governor rescind the outrageous order.

NLG and Other Legal Groups Send Letter to ICC Urging an Investigation into Potential War Crimes Committed by Israel and US in Gaza under “Operation Protective Edge”

NEW YORK--On August 22, the National Lawyers Guild (NLG) and other bar associations sent a letter to Fatou Bensouda, Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), urging her to initiate an investigation of war crimes, genocide, and crimes against humanity committed by Israeli leaders and aided and abetted by U.S. officials in Gaza. Under the Rome Statute, the ICC has the power to hold individuals criminally accountable for the most serious of crimes. The letter cites supporting factual allegations for each crime.

Signatories Call on White House to Investigate Beating and Detention of US Citizen and Palestinian-American Teen, Tariq Abu Khdeir

Today, the National Lawyers Guild (NLG) and nine other human rights organizations sent a letter to President Obama and White House officials asking them to demand Israel cease the practice of abuse and unlawful detention of Palestinians and conduct a full investigation into the severe beating and unlawful detention by Israeli police of U.S.-born, 15-year-old Tariq Abu Khdeir.

NLG Fact-Finding Delegation Calls for End of U.S.-Backed Administrative Detention of Palestinians by Israel

Approximately 200 Palestinians from the West Bank have been held for months or years by Israeli occupation forces without access to a just legal system, members of the National Lawyers Guild (NLG) learned in a fact-finding delegation from May 18-24, 2014. NLG, CCR, and DDF Letter to MD Assembly: Anti-Boycott Bill Violates First Amendment

The Maryland and D.C. Chapters of the NLG, along with the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) and Defending Dissent Foundation (DDF) submitted this letter to the Conference Committee for the Budget of the Maryland General Assembly, expressing concern over the proposed Amendment 923228/1 of Budget Bill SB 170.

Letter to House Education Committee to Oppose Anti-Boycott Bill H.R. 4009

The Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR), the National Lawyers Guild (NLG) and the Council on American-Islamic Relations-USA (CAIR-USA) sent members of the House of Representatives Education and the Workforce Committee a letter urging them to oppose legislation that would deny federal funding to colleges and universities that participate in a boycott of Israeli academic institutions or scholars. According to the legislation’s sponsors, H.R. 4009 was drafted in response to the American Studies Association’s recent resolution to boycott Israeli academic institutions.
