Meghan Barner is a 3L at Lewis and Clark in sunny Portland, OR. Meghan became involved with the NLG during her first year of law school when she co-organized the Student Day Against the Death Penalty. She was Co-Chair of the Lewis and Clark NLG chapter in her second year of law school and she currently serves on the executive board of the Portland chapter as Treasurer.
Meghan works as an intern at Portland’s Metropolitan Public Defender. She is also an intern at the Oregon Capital Resource Counsel, where she works all stages of capital defense cases, from habeas corpus to direct appeal. After law school, she plans to continue using her legal training to fight against systemic injustices in the criminal legal system and to work towards the abolition of the death penalty. When not railing against the prison-industrial complex, Meghan enjoys vegan cooking and getting tattoos.
