Protesters and journalists covering a Black Lives Matter rally in Berkeley, California, have filed a lawsuit alleging “unconstitutional police attacks” on attendees, court records showed.
The civil rights lawsuit was filed in federal court on Sunday by the San Francisco Bay Area chapter of the National Lawyers Guild against the city and police of Berkeley and nearby Hayward. The lawsuit is seeking unspecified damages.
Eleven individuals who were allegedly injured by police officers during last December’s Black Lives Matter protests filed a civil rights lawsuit against various city entities in federal court Sunday.
Among the plaintiffs are campus senior Nisa Dang, San Francisco Chronicle photographer Sam Wolson and minister Cindy Pincus. The plaintiffs are being represented by various legal counsels from the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild, or NLG.

SEATTLE - Seattle Police are raising safety concerns ahead of Friday's annual tree lighting ceremony and other holiday festivities at Westlake Center.
They are warning shoppers and families that protesters could crash the party again this year after online fliers began circulated calling for a 'Black Lives Matter' protest on the same day.
