Biography
Matt practices labor law at Leonard Carder, a Bay Area law firm, representing West Coast public and private sector unions as well as groups of individual workers in class action litigation. The firm traces its history to Norman Leonard, a founder of the Guild, to the 1930s. Leonard Carder represent.
Matt has been in the Guild since 1973 and was a member of the Boston and Northeastern Chapters for ten years—boy does he miss the Northeast every October.
In addition to serving on the L&EC Steering Committee, he works with the International Committee doing Palestine support work. He was a member the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter’s Executive Board for most of the past ten years but left the local Board to join the NEC and focus on the Progressive Lawyering Project, a video production and collection resource for the Guild.
Matt’s photograph shows him in a place he’d rather be. (He sells large format fine art landscape photos from time to time and would love to swap location suggestions.)
